Gino Van Ossel appointed Master Marketeer

Gino Van Ossel has been named the 50th Master Marketeer in Belgium by the Belgian Marketing Foundation. The popular Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School Professor of Retailing is one of the six new ambassadors, along with Hans Cools (Unilever), Patrick Janssens (Mayor of Antwerp), Yves Delacolette (Deutsche Bank), Thierry Cattoir (Remarkable) and Piet Jaspaert (JEP).

The purpose of the honour is to pay tribute to 'ambassadors' from the field of marketing and to reward them for their efforts. The election is an initiative of Belgium's Marketing Foundation - with 1,500 members, the major professional association for marketeers in Belgium.
The principle of this special programme also exists in the UK, the Netherlands and South Africa - where the honour is called Chartered Marketeer and Registered Marketeer. The Master Marketeers are presided over by Honorary Chairman Johnny Thijs, CEO of De Post.
The “Master Marketeer” concept was created in 1999 as a result of the Marketing Foundation's decision to establish a special programme for senior marketeers. The goal is to have top marketeers take the lead in setting the standard of quality as ambassadors for the profession. The Master Marketeers lend distinction to the marketing field and serve as models for young marketeers.
